Naturopathy (Notes by KK Madam)

NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy is that branch of science which believes that prevention is better than cure and drugless healing of human ailments.

Nature cure is based on regulation of daily routine diet, yogic exercise and other simple effective methods, consisting of hydro therapy, mud therapy etc.

Human body is made up of Pancha Maha Bhootas namely Akash (Space), Vayu (Air), Tejas (Fire), Ap (Water), and Prithvi (Earth).

Good health can be maintained and diseases can be cured through the application of these primordial elements in their pure or manifested form of like wet pack and fasting.

The word Naturopathy has been coined by Dr.Sheel in the year 1875 and was propagated and popularized in the western world by Dr.Benedict.

The fundamental principle on which naturopathy is based on is as follows:

1.      A regulation of a daily routine (Dina Charya)
2.      Fasting and Dietary habits
3.      Abstaining from certain habits and addiction like excessive drinking of tea and coffee
4.      Avoiding indiscriminate and excessive medication.
5.      Regular Yogic Exercises.

Nature cure philosophy tells that almost all illnesses are the body’s timely warnings and that body needs proper rest and attention.

Health is its Law (Dharma of the body) and if body is left alone, knows how to maintain health or to cure itself of the ailments.

According to Indian scriptures out physical body is made of five elements.

Imbalance of these five elements is the main cause of the diseases.

Restoration of the balance of these five elements results in restoration of health.
Nature expels morbid matter and impurities from 10 systems in following ways:
1)      Through the Rectum (Waste food produced)

2)      Urinary organs, combined through lime, potash, soda, magnesium and other substances taken from blood are expelled from the system.

3)      Through the pores of sin which expels good deal of waste matter in the form of perspiration.

4)      Through the respiratory organs which sustain life by inhaling the air and exhalations.  It throws out the carbonic acid gas generated in the body.

If these natural functions are not carried out properly, waste morbid matter accumulates in the body.

According to yogic physiology, the human frame work is comprised of five bodies:

1.      Annayama Kosha, the Food or Natural body
2.      Pranamaya Kosha, the Vital energy body
3.      Manomaya Kosha, the Mental body
4.      Vijnanamaya Kosha, the Higher mental body
5.      Anandamaya Kosha, the Transcendental or Bliss body
